In 2013 Germany was again the biggest exporter of environmental goods, as insulation material, intelligent meters and air cleaner, with a world trade share of 14,8%. German enterprises export environmental goods for a total value of 50,3 billion Euro which makes up almost 5% of the whole German freight transports. Thus the environment protection remains an important economical factor. Especially many goods came from the traditional strong industries of measure-, tax- and control technology for environment protection as well as waste- and wastewater technologies. These numbers were announced by the Federal Environment Agency in February of this year. Overall there was a production of goods for environment protection valued at 82 billion Euro in 2013 – this makes about 6% of the total German industrial production.
